Beautiful Boy, trailer and quick thoughts....

I'm a bit late to the game on posting this, but something would be amiss if I didn't, yes? Considering last year?

I'm really enjoying my Best Films Rewatch...to the point that I have little interest in this year's Oscar race...honestly, the only real engaging I have done has been my dismissal of "Hereditary" and its Oscar chances. I don't like being negative here, so I'm going to let Toni Collette play out and do my best to keep my mouth shut until things really heat up and we actually have a competition. It's not like anyone else is jumping at the bit to win Best Actress at this point.

However, "Beautiful Boy" excites me. I would love to see a film about addiction starring Timothee Chalamet in the Oscar race. I'm not alone, if you look toward social media. But then you have another contingent who seems to discount the excitement. "It's too soon" says the people who write about Oscars year round.

Twitter becomes more and more vile each day despite my attempts to legitimize it as a means for discussing film and promoting my work.

If you haven't had a chance to view the trailer, check it out.

Amazon was smart to begin the trailer with this scene at the diner. I've been trying to put into words how this opening speaks to me...as a film lover and a recovering addict...but I haven't figured it out. Not yet. I will, I'm sure....but for now...
